Phyllis Bennett moved here in the late 1980's and has
contributed more to her adopted home that most citizens who have lived here all
their lives. She has made major contributions to the Terrell County Public
Library through her volunteer work and as a member of the Friends Group.
For Phyllis this was not work, but a labor of love. She came to Dawson
from Florida and made major impacts on the lives of Terrell County Citizens as
well as Southwest Georgia. Some of Phyllis' contributions to her adopted
home:
- Indexed the Dawson News up to 1938
- Member of the Historic Preservation Society
- Instrumental in helping to plan more than one "Annual
Tour of Homes"
- Served as President of the Terrell County Friends of
the Library
- American Cancer Society
- American Red Cross
- City of Dawson Poll Manager
This is just a few of the many wonderful things
Phyllis did to aid her adopted home.
In March 2002, Phyllis moved back to Florida to be near
her family and I must say that Florida's gain is definitely Georgia's lost.
Phyllis, enjoy Florida and come back to visit Dawson often!
